Course Outline

Section 1

Section 1 of this course provides an introduction to Alcohol and Dental Caries and covers topics such as the definition and causes of dental caries, the role of alcohol in dental caries development, different types of alcoholic beverages and their effects on oral health, and the mechanisms of alcohol-induced dental caries, including alcohol’s impact on oral microbiota and salivary function. The section also discusses the oral health consequences of excessive alcohol consumption, such as oral cancer, periodontal disease, tooth erosion, and dry mouth.

Section 2

Section 2 of this course covers the effects of alcohol on oral microbiota, including the disruption of microbial balance, the impact on biofilm formation and pH levels, and the relationship between alcohol consumption and dental caries risk. The section also includes a case study analyzing alcohol’s impact on oral microbiota and dental caries.
